Neal Tait (born in Edinburgh, Scotland) is a London-based painter who produces both paintings and drawings. He studied painting at Chelsea School of Art and the Royal College of Art, where he was trained in both traditional approaches to drawing and painting as well as contemporary artistic practices. Neal has extensive experience working with oils, acrylics, watercolour and gouache, alongside drawing media such as pastel, ink, pencil and charcoal.
With over 30 years of teaching experience in London art schools and at the Ruskin School of Art, University of Oxford, Neal has taught life drawing and painting, portraiture, landscape painting, abstract painting and painting from imagination. His own artistic practice reflects this broad approach, combining traditional skills with contemporary ideas and ongoing developments in painting and visual art. Neal has exhibited his work both in the UK and internationally, including exhibitions in London, New York, Los Angeles, Zurich and Ghent. His work has also been included in exhibitions at Tate Britain, Kunstmuseum Basel, Kunstmuseum Dresden and K21 Düsseldorf.
