Course Description

This 4-week Introduction to Portraiture course provides a structured and practical introduction to portrait drawing and painting.

Students begin by learning the basic proportions and structure of the face, focusing on accurate observation and key relationships between features. Exercises in pencil and charcoal help build confidence in line, tone and form, laying the groundwork for capturing a convincing likeness.

As the course progresses, students are introduced to simple painted portrait studies using acrylics. The focus remains on observation, tonal balance and developing a clear understanding of facial structure rather than highly finished work.

The short format offers a clear and accessible entry into portraiture, suitable for beginners as well as those seeking to refresh or strengthen their skills.

Most materials are provided.
