Class Description

This Portfolio Preparation taster introduces students to the drawing, experimentation and idea development involved in creating a strong art and design portfolio.

Students join a regular class during the opening weeks of the 10-week course, working alongside enrolled students and taking part in the activity planned for that session. Depending on the class programme, this may involve observational or imaginative drawing, visual research, experimenting with materials or developing an initial idea.

With guidance from the tutor, students experience the teaching approach and learn how creative work can develop from first observations into stronger portfolio ideas. The taster is suitable for those preparing for Foundation, university or another creative course, as well as students still deciding which artistic direction to pursue.

If you decide to continue, you’re welcome to enrol on the full 10-week Portfolio Preparation course, subject to availability.

Complimentary refreshments are provided, including coffee, a range of teas, and biscuits.
