Course Description

This short summer course introduces the core principles of classical drawing and painting through focused studies inspired by Charles Bargue and traditional academic methods.

Working on carefully selected exercises, students will develop accuracy in observation, strengthen their understanding of proportion, and learn to build tone and structure through controlled mark-making. The emphasis is on clarity, discipline, and precision, helping you establish a strong technical foundation within a shorter timeframe.

You’ll learn to:

  • Observe and replicate forms with accuracy
  • Understand relationships between line, shape, and proportion
  • Build tone and volume through controlled shading
  • Develop structure and clarity in your work
  • Apply classical techniques to both drawing and painting

Each session combines guided instruction with individual feedback, allowing steady progress across the four weeks.

All basic materials are provided – just bring yourself and a focused approach to practice.
