Class Overview
- Join us for a focused one-off Classical Drawing taster session, designed for anyone who wants to experience our teaching approach before enrolling on the full 10-week course.
- Suitable for beginners and more experienced artists, the session introduces practical observational drawing skills rooted in classical drawing principles.
- You’ll explore techniques that can help you understand proportion, form, space and the relationships between what you see and what you draw.
- The studio is a short journey from Crouch End, Finsbury Park, Archway and Highgate.
Time
Taster sessions run alongside regular Thursday classes.

Class Description
Join an ongoing Classical Drawing class and experience the practical teaching approach used throughout the full 10-week course.
Rooted in classical drawing principles, the session focuses on developing observational drawing skills and learning how to see, measure and translate three-dimensional forms onto a two-dimensional surface. Depending on the work taking place in the class, you’ll experience practical drawing exercises and techniques designed to develop greater understanding and confidence.
The teaching approach breaks drawing down into clear, manageable steps and encourages you to look closely at proportion, relationships, form and space. You’ll also experience the problem-solving approach at the heart of the full course: learning to recognise when something isn’t working and understanding what you can try next.
This taster gives you a genuine introduction to the teaching style and approach of Classical Drawing for Contemporary Artists before deciding whether to enrol on the full 10-week course.
All necessary drawing materials are provided.
