Class Description

Discover how drawing can become part of the printmaking process in this practical Drawing Into Printmaking taster session.

You’ll join an ongoing class and experience the drawing-led, experimental approach used throughout the full 10-week programme. Drawing provides the starting point for exploring how line, mark, tone, texture and composition can change when translated into print.

Depending on the stage of the course when you attend, you may experience techniques or processes connected with monoprint, drypoint, relief printing or linocut, as well as approaches to layering, repetition, positive and negative space and image development.

The emphasis is on experimentation and understanding the creative process rather than producing a technically perfect print. You’ll receive tutor guidance while gaining a genuine introduction to how drawing and printmaking are combined within the course.

The class uses water-based and other non-toxic materials wherever possible, and all necessary materials for the taster session are provided.

If you decide to continue, you’re welcome to enrol on the full 10-week Drawing Into Printmaking course, subject to availability.

Complimentary refreshments are provided, including coffee, a range of teas, and biscuits.
