Raquel Amat is a practising artist and printmaker with extensive experience in fine art print processes and interdisciplinary approaches to image-making. Her teaching focuses on encouraging creativity through technical skill, experimentation, and an understanding of materials and process.

Course Description
Screen Printing on Textiles
Join us for a creative screen printing workshop taking place over two Saturdays, ideal for anyone who wants to explore printing on textiles. Suitable for beginners and those with some experience, this hands-on workshop guides you through designing and printing your own custom tote bag or T-shirt.
Across the two sessions, you will learn how to develop bold, effective imagery for print, prepare your designs, and gain practical experience with screen preparation, stencil-making, ink mixing, and fabric printing techniques. You will explore hand-drawn approaches and receive support in translating your ideas into striking textile designs.
With an emphasis on experimentation and personal expression, you will be encouraged to explore colour, layering, and composition to create unique wearable pieces. By the end of the workshop, you will have produced your own printed tote bag or T-shirt and gained the skills and confidence to continue screen printing independently.
All basic materials and equipment will be provided; just bring your ideas and clothes you do not mind getting inky.
Monoprint
Discover the expressive and spontaneous world of monoprinting in this engaging 2-day workshop. Suitable for beginners and those with some experience, this hands-on course offers an introduction to one-of-a-kind printmaking techniques that combine drawing, painting, and print.
Across the two sessions, you will explore a range of monoprint processes, experimenting with mark-making, texture, layering, and colour. You will learn how to create unique prints using a variety of methods, including additive and subtractive techniques, working directly onto plates to produce rich, painterly results.
With a focus on experimentation and creative exploration, you will be encouraged to develop your own visual language and approach to image-making. The workshop also covers inking methods, paper handling, and effective ways to build depth and composition through layering.
By the end of the workshop, you will have produced a series of original monoprints and gained the confidence to continue exploring this versatile and accessible printmaking process.

Drypoint
Explore the rich, tactile qualities of drypoint printmaking in this focused one-day workshop. Ideal for beginners and those looking to expand their printmaking skills, this hands-on session introduces the fundamentals of creating beautifully detailed intaglio prints.
Throughout the day, you will learn how to draw directly onto plates using drypoint tools, creating expressive lines and textures. You will be guided through the inking and wiping process and shown how to print your work using an etching press. The workshop covers key techniques for achieving depth, contrast, and atmosphere in your prints.
With an emphasis on mark-making and personal expression, you will be encouraged to experiment with line, tone, and composition to develop your own imagery. By the end of the session, you will have produced a small edition of your own drypoint prints and gained a solid foundation to continue working independently.

Collograph

Over two full days, you will learn how to construct your own printing plates using a wide range of materials such as card, fabric, found objects, and textured surfaces. You will experiment with composition, layering, and colour, developing a small series of unique prints that reflect your personal style and creative ideas. Alongside practical demonstrations, there will be opportunities to explore contemporary and historical references, helping to expand your visual language and approach to printmaking.
By the end of the workshop, you will have produced a collection of original prints and gained the confidence to continue working independently with collograph techniques.
Relief Printing on Textiles
Explore the creative potential of relief printing on textiles in a practical workshop focused on designing, carving, and printing your own bold textile designs. Suitable for beginners and those with some experience, this workshop introduces the fundamentals of creating repeat patterns and striking imagery for fabric.
You will learn how to develop your ideas into effective relief prints, create and carve your own printing blocks, and print onto textiles while exploring pattern, repetition, composition, and colour layering. The workshop encourages experimentation and supports the development of your own visual style.
Relief Printing on Textiles is taught as a two-day workshop across two Saturdays. By the end, you will have produced your own printed textile piece or small collection of printed samples and gained the skills and confidence to continue relief printing independently.
